Welcome to Flight Simulator Scenarios
Our blog is dedicated to helping aspiring and existing pilots enhance their skills through challenging and realistic FAA FITS-based scenarios. You fly these scenarios in a flight simulation, preferably with an instructor, then fly them in an actual airplane, refining your procedural skills, such as instrument scan, while looking outside the airplane back in the simulator.
It starts by treating the flight simulator like a real airplane, with a plan for the flight, a flight plan, checking the weather, and using a checklist for each phase of the flight. As for the flight deck, this does not mean you need to build a replica of an actual instrument panel, although you will need basic controls such as a yoke or joystick, rudder pedals, and a throttle quadrant similar to the type of plane you fly.
Work with us to customize scenarios for your local area and flying location, and join the exciting journey to becoming a proficient aviator!
FAA Industry Training Standards
The FITS Syllabus is a guide developed for creating specific training curricula based on FAA Industry Training Standards (FITS). It emphasizes real-world scenarios to enhance pilots' decision-making skills while maintaining competency-based training, allowing pilots to progress at their own pace regardless of flight hours. The syllabus is adaptable to various FAA regulations and requires acceptance for the use of the FITS logo in related materials
Empowering Instructors: The Case for Flight Simulators in Primary Flight Training
Flight instructors are the backbone of aviation safety and training. With the evolution of flight simulation technology, instructors now have powerful tools at their disposal to enhance the quality, efficiency, and safety of primary flight training. This document outlines how flight simulators, when thoughtfully integrated, can amplify your teaching effectiveness, reduce student attrition, and elevate the training experience for both instructor and student.
Mastering Flight Simulation: Overcoming Common Pitfalls
Flight simulators are powerful tools for pilots and aviation enthusiasts alike. They provide a safe and cost-effective environment to practice procedures, refine flying skills, and prepare for real-world scenarios. However, despite their benefits, users often develop habits in the simulator that can hinder real-world performance. This article outlines the most common mistakes pilots make during sim sessions and provides actionable strategies to overcome them.
